The company

A local firm, for work that demands attention

BS Assicurazioni was founded in Ascona on a simple idea: in insurance the difference is not made by the product catalogue, but by the time someone spends understanding your situation.

Positioning

What we are, and what we are not

We are an independent insurance broker: a non-tied intermediary within the meaning of art. 40 of the Insurance Supervision Act (ISA, LSA/VAG), entered in the public register kept by FINMA. We belong to no insurer and we do not sell a catalogue: we compare the market and choose together with you.

We are neither an automated comparison platform nor a call centre. Every file is handled by a person who knows your name, your family and your situation — and who answers the telephone even once the matter is closed.

We work throughout the Canton of Ticino, from our base in Ascona. Advice takes place in Italian, Portuguese and German; the website and the summary documents also exist in French and English.

Values

Three principles, applied to the letter

Independence

No exclusivity agreement, no cross-shareholding with an insurer, no sales targets imposed from outside. If the best solution is to stay where you are, we tell you so.

Clarity

Every proposal is written, compared and comprehensible: actual premiums, benefits, exclusions, notice periods. No clauses hidden on the last page.

Continuity

An insurance file is not a contract signed once: it is one review a year, an update at every change in your life and a person you can reach when something happens.

Partnership

Due Mila, for the health branch

A local broker since 1998, today our partner for health insurance.

In the health branch BS Assicurazioni works with Due Mila, a brokerage founded in 1998 in the Locarno region and active today in Ascona, Lugano and St. Moritz, with a dozen staff and more than thirty mandating insurers.

The collaboration concerns the health branch alone — basic health insurance (LAMal/KVG) and supplementary insurance (LCA/VVG). In every other area BS Assicurazioni operates entirely independently, with its own mandates and a direct comparison of the whole market.

  • Health: advice developed with our partner, in accordance with the sector agreement ASI 3.0
  • Pensions, life, assets, vehicles and businesses: independent BS Assicurazioni mandate
  • A single point of contact for the client in both cases

Rules of the profession

The framework we work in

Since 1 January 2024 the revised Insurance Supervision Act has tightened the conditions for working as an intermediary. We summarise them here because they are, in effect, the guarantees available to the client.

Entry in the FINMA register

Non-tied intermediaries may operate only if they are entered in the public register kept by FINMA, which verifies good repute, professional qualifications and insurance cover. The register can be consulted online by anyone: you can check us at any time.

Professional indemnity insurance

The law requires cover for financial loss of at least two million francs a year, an amount that rises with the number of staff. It exists to protect the client against an error of advice.

Continuing professional development

Professional competence is demonstrated by a recognised examination and maintained through periodic recertification, in accordance with the industry's minimum standards in force since 1 October 2024.

Transparency on remuneration

Art. 45b ISA requires the client to be informed of the nature and amount of the remuneration received from insurers or third parties. In the health branch, the limits of the sector agreement declared binding by the Federal Council in 2024 also apply.

If you disagree with an insurer you can turn free of charge to the Ombudsman of Private Insurance and Suva. We help you prepare the file — even when the other party is an insurer we work with.

Let's meet

The best way to judge us is to put us to the test

Bring us a real case: a policy you do not understand, a premium that has gone up, a deadline that is approaching.
